could be much better - its almost impossible to tell the gdp per capita stats, which is really the key figure. per-state gdp is influence too significantly by square miles / size. You should have used the colors for the per capita figures, and used different cross hatching styles (vertical, horizontal, diag, cross, etc.) to display per state....
Beautiful. Totally simple and totally fascinating. Would love a Flash version that allows you to mouse-over for each state's stats (also check Michigan, looks like you forgot the Northern Peninsula).
